BIOGRAPHY

Hailing from Maui, Kemper spent a childhood looking up to the greatest Hawaiians from the generations before him. With no lack of motivation, Kemper is known as a hard-working young surfer ready to charge.

In 2010, he won the 4-star HIC Pro at Sunset Beach, putting himself on the map and finishing the year ranked No. 1 in the ASP Hawaii Region.

Kemper might be best known for his paddle-in exploits in huge Jaws, where he has already logged a lifetime of massive walls. His numerous XXL entries have included 2010 “Ride of the Year,” 2013 “Wipeout of the Year,” and 2014 "Ride of the Year." In 2012, he also won the Steep & Deep Pipeline Photo Challenge. He’s been busying himself on the WQS, doing ASP 6-star and Prime events and lighting up the Triple Crown of Surfing each winter, including entries into the Pipe Masters.

But Kemper put all his other accomplishments on the second shelf in December of 2015 by winning the World Surf League Big Wave Tour’s first-ever Pe’Ahi Challenge on his home island, by sticking historic drops down mountainous wave faces and tucking into one of the largest barrels in history.
