SAN CLEMENTE, CA
BIOGRAPHY
Strange is her real last name, and it suits her just fine.
Alexa Chitra Strange grew up playing beach volleyball on the beaches of San Clemente, CA. Her mother is Indian and her father is Scandinavian, giving Alexa a unique perspective on life from different cultural backgrounds. Her mother has been blind since Alexa was 1 year old, and as a result, they have a deep bond. Growing up with a blind mother changed the way Alexa perceives the world, and she believes it has allowed her to live unencumbered by many of the deceptions our sight can mislead us with; she follows her intuition as her mother does.
She dreams of doing big things in beach volleyball, but Alexa believes in the importance of focusing on the journey and not the end destination.
By following her passion for beach volleyball, she has become the first female sports commentator for the Men’s Pro Volleyball League in India.
When she’s not sports commentating, she plays Professional Beach Volleyball for the The Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP), the biggest and longest-running professional beach volleyball tour in the US.
Alexa likes to push herself out of her comfort zone and her nonconformist attitude makes her a role model for all the other ‘Strange’ girls out there. She wants to inspire people to be true to themselves, follow their passions & trust their intuition, because when you do that, limits no longer exist.
She has a tattoo on her left shoulder by Aldous Huxley that says “there is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” She lives by this idea, believing that by constantly trying to better yourself, you become the love and change you want to see in the world!
